World Record Barefoot Walk for Men's Mental Health w/ Anton Nootenboom (The Barefoot Dutchman)
Season #3
Anton Nootenboom, also known as The Barefoot Dutchman, shares his remarkable journey of walking barefoot across continents to raise awareness for men's mental health. A 37-year-old Dutch army veteran with three missions to Afghanistan under his belt, Anton's story begins with his struggles in the military and his subsequent battle with depression and thoughts of suicide. After hitting rock bottom, he felt an undeniable calling to enact change and find balance in life. In 2019, he achieved an extraordinary feat by becoming the first person ever to walk barefoot to the base camp of Mount Everest. Anton passionately believes in the power of personal storytelling to create safe spaces for others, leading him to launch BraveMenTalk, a platform dedicated to reducing depression and suicide rates. His commitment to the cause was further solidified in 2021 when he broke the Guinness World Record by walking 3019 kilometers barefoot along Australia's East coast. Now, in February 2024, he's gearing up to break his own record by embarking on a barefoot journey across the United States, inviting others to join him in his mission to raise awareness and support for men's mental health.
